How do I perform a factory reset on my Portal?

If you run into problems with your Portal or want to clear all of your data off your Portal, you can do a factory reset.
After a factory reset, your Portal will return to its factory settings, disconnect accounts and erase:
- Preferences
- Local device data
- Settings
If your screen is frozen or blank, scroll down to find manual-reset instructions.

Portal Go
- Remove it from the charging dock and turn off by pressing and holding the power button and select Power Off.
- Press and hold both the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons while powering on Portal Go. Release power button once see the countdown screen, and keep Volume Down and Volume Up buttons holding for 10 seconds during the countdown.
Portal (Gen 1), Portal, Portal + or Portal Mini
- Unplug your Portal.
- Press and hold both the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons and plug your Portal back in at the same time. Keep holding for 10 seconds.
- You will get an on-screen notification that your Portal will factory reset in 10 seconds. Keep holding the volume buttons for the 10 second countdown.
Portal+ (Gen 1)
- Unplug your power and USB cables.
- Press and hold the power button and plug your Portal back in at the same time. Keep holding for 10 seconds.
- You will get an on-screen notification that your Portal will factory reset in 10 seconds. Keep holding the power button for the 10 second countdown.
After a factory reset
Once your device is reset:
If the reset doesn’t fix your problem, find your Portal’s serial number and contact support.
