Why am I being asked to add a Tax ID to complete my Oculus Store purchase?
Starting June 2020, your government-issued Tax ID is required by law for all digital purchases made in Mexico.
To add your Tax Identification number to your account:
You should only have to add this information once. After you’ve added your Tax ID number to your account, it will be shown on your receipts for any future purchases.
Why am I being asked to confirm, authenticate, or add a new card to complete my Oculus Store purchase?
People using a credit or debit card issued in the European Economic Area for online purchases may be asked to complete additional authentication measures.
Meta Quest supports making payments more secure and transparent. As part of the revised Second Payment Services Directive (PSD2) issued by the EU, you may be asked to authenticate your credit or debit card.
Some of the places you may be asked to authenticate your payment include:
- When adding a new card to your account.
When purchasing hardware from Meta Store
When purchasing an app or game from the Oculus store
When purchasing in-app or downloadable content
Some of the ways your bank may ask you to authenticate your payment include:
Respond to an email with a secure link to complete your purchase.
Open a payment confirmation from the Oculus app on your phone.
Provide additional verification for your bank in a browser window.
You can also add PayPal as a confirmed payment method to your account. Once you do this, you should be able to use your confirmed PayPal account to complete purchases without additional verification steps.
