Managing your unlock pattern with Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest headsets
Set up an unlock pattern and secure your Meta Quest 2 or Meta Quest with an extra layer of security that you can use to prevent others from accessing your device or saved passwords.
You have two device lock options:
- None: Your device stays unlocked, so you can get into your device quickly.
- Unlock Pattern: Draw a pattern to unlock your device or access certain features while in-headset.
Create an unlock pattern
You can set your Meta Quest 2 or Meta Quest to require an unlock pattern when you power on or wake your device and to access your saved passwords in Browser.
To create an unlock pattern from the Oculus mobile app:
- Open the Oculus mobile app and tap Devices in the bottom menu.
- Tap the headset connected to your phone.
- Tap Unlock Pattern, then tap Set Unlock Pattern.
- Draw the unlock pattern you want to use, then tap Create.
- Draw the same pattern, then tap Confirm.
To create an unlock pattern from your Meta Quest 2 or Meta Quest headset:
- Press
on your right Touch controller to open the universal menu.
- Select
Apps, then select
Settings.
- From the left menu, select Security.
- Next to Unlock pattern, select Create.
- Draw the unlock pattern you want to use, then select Continue.
- Draw the same pattern, then select Confirm.
For added security, your unlock pattern is only stored on the headset.
Saved passwords on Browser
Browser allows you to remember passwords and auto-fill passwords you saved in your password manager.
When you enter a username and password in Browser, you'll be prompted with an option to save your password. Your saved passwords are stored on-device and protected by encryption. You can also require an unlock pattern to access your saved passwords by adjusting your security settings.
Manage your security settings
To manage your security settings:
- Press
on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu.
- Hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel.
- Select
Settings in the top right corner.
- Select Security from the left menu.
Reset or change an unlock pattern
To reset or change your unlock pattern, you will need to know what your unlock pattern is. If you forgot your unlock pattern, you can remove it following the steps in the next section.
To reset or change your unlock pattern from the Oculus mobile app:
- Open the Oculus app and tap Devices.
- Select your headset then swipe down to Headset Settings.
- Tap Unlock Pattern then tap Reset Unlock Pattern.
- Draw your current unlock pattern, then tap Verify.
- Draw the unlock pattern you want to use, then tap Create.
- Draw the same pattern, then tap Confirm.
To reset or change your unlock pattern from your Meta Quest 2 or Meta Quest:
- Press
on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu.
- Hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel.
- Select
Settings in the top right corner.
- Select Security from the left menu, then select Reset next to Unlock pattern.
- Draw your current unlock pattern.
- Draw the unlock pattern you want to use, then select Continue.
- Draw the same pattern, then select Confirm.
Remove an unlock pattern
If you've forgotten your unlock pattern, you can remove it using the Oculus mobile app and your PIN.
To remove your unlock pattern using the Oculus mobile app:
- Open the Oculus app and tap Devices.
- Select your headset then swipe down to Headset Settings.
- Tap Unlock Pattern then tap Remove Unlock Pattern.
- Enter your PIN and tap Submit.
If you're unable to remove your unlock pattern using the Oculus mobile app, you can factory reset your headset.
