Troubleshooting a controller pairing issue with your Gear VR

If you’re having trouble using your Samsung Gear VR controller, try these troubleshooting tips:

  • If you’re having trouble pairing your controller, open the Oculus app on your Android phone and check the Controllers section of your settings to make sure your controller isn’t already paired. If it’s paired, unpair it from the Bluetooth settings on your phone and then try pairing it again. It that doesn’t work, try restarting your phone.
  • If your controller is paired, check to make sure your controller doesn’t have low batteries. To check your battery levels:
    1. Open the Oculus app
    2. Tap More and then tap Controller
    3. Below Paired Controllers, tap your controller to see the battery level for your controller
  • Check to make sure you don’t have a gamepad paired to your phone. If you do, try turning it off or unpairing it.
  • If your controller isn’t centered right, try resetting your controller orientation by pointing it forward and then pressing and holding the Home button.
  • If you notice lag with your controller, check to make sure your phone isn’t downloading large updates over Wi-Fi (example: Google Play Store updates). If still notice some lag, try restarting your phone.
  • If your controller starts to drift while using it in VR, try recalibrating it. To recalibrate your controller:
    1. Open the Oculus app
    2. Tap More and then tap Controller
    3. Below Paired Controllers, tap your controller
    4. Tap in the top right and then tap Recalibrate
    5. Follow the on-screen instructions to recalibrate your controller

Note: Not all games fully support the Gear VR controller. To check if the controller is supported, look for a Supported icon next to the game.

If you have a problem with content you recently bought in the Oculus Store, you can request a refund on the Oculus app on your Samsung Android phone. You can learn more about the refund policy by visiting our Oculus Mobile Content Refund Policy and Oculus Store Terms.

Refund Availability

For Gear VR content, you may be eligible for a refund if you used the content for less than 30 minutes and you've requested a refund less than 3 days after purchase.

For more important eligibility details on content refunds, please visit our Oculus Mobile Content Refund Policy and Oculus Store Terms.

Requesting a Refund

To request using the Oculus app on your Samsung Android phone:

  1. Open the Oculus app on your phone

  2. Tap More

  3. Tap Purchase History

  4. Find the content you want to request a refund for, tap and then tap Request Refund

  5. Follow the on-screen instructions and then enter your Oculus pin to request your refund

For Refunds Not Covered by the Content Refund Policies

Even if you don't qualify for an automated refund under this policy, you may be able to receive a refund by contacting Meta Store support. For example, these refund rights are separate from any legal rights you may have if the content supplied is either faulty or misdescribed.

Receiving Your Refund

Once you request a refund, we'll review your request and email you back with an update. You won't be able to use the content while we review your request. To check the status of your request, visit your Purchase History.

It typically takes us no more than 5 days to review, verify and process refund requests. It may take longer for your statement to reflect the credit. If a refund request is granted, we'll credit you through your original payment method(s). If you still haven't received the money after 7-9 business days, we recommend contacting your payment provider for help receiving your refund.
