Product Information Sheet – Oculus Go

Why Is This Information Provided?

Facebook Technologies, LLC is providing this Product Information Sheet as a service to its customers that desire more detailed information about their Oculus Go. The product referenced in this document is considered an “article”, and is therefore exempt from general hazard communication regulations such as U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration 29 CFR 1910.1200 and similar requirements in other countries (see Applicability to Other Countries below). Even though we are exempt from these regulations, Oculus has chosen to voluntarily provide this information.

Model Information

This document applies specifically to the Oculus Go standalone virtual reality headset.

Product Information

The product covered by this document contains a 2600mAh rechargeable lithium ion battery pack with a 9.36 watt-hour rating and is used with the Oculus Go virtual reality headset. It is a single cell battery with a nominal voltage of 3.6 volts and it weighs 48 grams.

General Safety Precautions

If used in accordance with the directions, warnings and conditions supplied with this model, the chemical content of the product will remain sealed within its enclosure and should not pose a safety hazard. If the battery is abused and the enclosure is breached, individuals could come into contact with its chemical contents. To prevent such injury, do not disassemble, puncture, crush, heat, microwave or burn the product.

First Aid Measures

If individuals come into contact with battery chemicals, follow these instructions:

Inhalation: Move to an area where there is fresh air and rest in a position that is comfortable for breathing. Get medical attention if feeling unwell.

Skin Contact: Remove contaminated clothing and rinse the skin with plenty of water for several minutes. Get medical attention if feeling unwell.

Eye Contact: Rinse the eye cautiously with plenty of water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing and get medical attention.

Ingestion: If handling a damaged battery, take care not to touch fingers to mouth. If ingestion occurs, drink 2 to 8 ounces of water. DO NOT induce vomiting. Get medical attention.

Fire Safety Measures

In case of fire, water will cool the product, and other products in the area, to prevent the spread of fire. To extinguish fire involving the product, suitable extinguishing media include foam, dry powder, dry sand and CO2. The most effective method is to smother the fire quickly with large amounts of dry sand. Firefighters should wear fire resistant protective equipment and appropriate breathing apparatus.

Safe Handling and Storage

Always follow the warning information in the manual and do not attempt to service the product yourself. Do not allow the product to come into contact with water. Keep the product away from open flames or high temperatures. Do not expose the product to mechanical shock.

Disposal Considerations

Do not dispose of in fire. Lithium ion battery pack disposal should be done in accordance with applicable regional, national and local laws and regulations. Oculus recommends the environmentally conscious recycling of this product. For recycling options go to www.oculus.com/legal/recycle.

Lithium ion batteries must be transported in compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations. The IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, Section 3.9, defines Lithium Batteries as Class 9 – Miscellaneous Dangerous Goods. Since the batteries are transported within equipment (the Oculus Go), they receive a classification of UN3481. Batteries are further classified based on the energy capacity of the cell and battery, which are the same because this is a single cell battery.

The battery’s energy capacity is 9.36 watt-hours, and since this is less than the threshold of 20 watt-hours for a cell and 100 watt-hours for a battery, it meets the requirements for transportation according to the following packing instruction:

PI 967 Section II (UN 3481, Lithium ion batteries contained in equipment)

This product also meets the requirements of Special Provision 188 of the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code for shipment by sea.

This product has also passed the 1.2m Drop Test set forth in the UN Recommendations of the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Special Provision 188

Applicability to Other Countries

Any requirement to provide a Safety Data Sheet (SDS), rather than a Product Information Sheet, is determined based on classifications in the UN Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). The GHS specifically applies to pure substances and their solutions and mixtures, and therefore it does not apply to manufactured items, such as the lithium ion battery in the Oculus Go headset. OSHA regulations and the European Classification and Labeling Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 explicitly exempt “articles” from their scope, as they are harmonized with GHS. The Oculus Go battery meets the definition of an “article” because it has a specific design and shape that enables its function in the product, and in normal use does not release more than minute amounts of hazardous chemicals. Any other country that has adopted the GHS can also only apply it to pure substances and their solutions and mixtures; therefore any GHS-harmonized country cannot require an SDS for the Oculus Go battery.

GHS harmonized countries (not requiring an SDS) include:

Australia

Austria

Belgium

Canada

Denmark

Finland

France

Germany

Iceland

Ireland

Italy

Japan

Netherlands

New Zealand

Norway

Poland

South Korea

Spain

Sweden

Switzerland

Taiwan

United Kingdom

United States

The Oculus Go battery has also obtained the following certifications:

International: IEC 62133
Taiwan: BSMI Japan: PSE
South Korea: KC
Canada: UL
United States: UL
